Fraud Awareness and Prevention for the Non-Profit Sector
Event Information
About this Event
As the non-profit sector continues to adapt to the realities of the COVID-19 global pandemic there is an ever increasing risk of fraud. Members of KPMG’s Forensic practice will be presenting a range of topics focused on fraud awareness. The discussion will include a brief introduction to fraud (“fraud 101”), as well as information on:
- Who commits fraud (Profile of a fraudster)
- Red flags (What to look out for)
- Common phishing schemes, including emerging trends
- Industry-specific fraud risks for not-for-profits: Reputational, volunteer, cash, expense report, procurement, conflicts of interest, etc.
- Some recent examples of fraud investigated by the KPMG team
Our hope is that this presentation will help Niagara's non-profit community better plan for, mitigate and deal with fraud risks, including emerging threats.
A local Niagara charity will be sharing their experience navigating fraudulent activities. This case study will provide attendees with a hands-on example to apply to their own work-place and network.
