Canadians reported more than 113 million dollars lost to fraud schemes in 2018. When you consider it is estimated at best only 5% of all victims ever report victimization the true losses are incredible.
Pathwise Credit Union (formerly AWCCU) is partnering with Detective Constable Martin Franssen of the Durham Regional Police Major Fraud Unit to offer a presentation on Fraud Prevention to our members, the BACD members, the ConnectingGTA members and our community. We believe knowledge is key.
Detective Constable Franssen is currently responsible for conducting complex investigations in the particular areas of fraud against vulnerable persons, theft by Power of Attorney, mortgage fraud, and financial crimes related to estate and trust funds.
He has developed presentations to increase public and professional organization awareness of Financial Crimes, Power of Attorney and Last Will and Testament issues.
Awareness is key to prevention of victimization.
