Celebrate Halloween Night at the Revue Cinema!
USA 1932 14A 16mm print!
Directed by Victor Halperin
Starring Bela Lugosi, Madge Bellamy
On the spookiest night of the year, why not take in one of the earliest independent horror films? White Zombie was released in 1932 to a public demanding more chills, thrills and more importantly — more Bela Lugosi, who had played Dracula the previous year.
In one of his greatest screen performances, Lugosi plays Murder Legendre, a plantation owner and voodoo practitioner. When a young man enacts a Faustian bargain with Legendre to lure the woman he loves away from her fiance, Legendre instead turns her into a zombie slave. All set to one of the best and most chilling scores of the early sound era!
