Event description

Description

In any given year, 1 out of 5 kids experiences a significant mental health issue, which impacts their daily lives and those of their family members. That truth is that pre-teens and teens can develop the same mental health conditions as adults, however, the presenting symptoms are different.

As a result, the warning signs are often missed.

What appears on the surface as difficult, frustrating behaviours are symptoms of an underlying cause – or an unheard story about their feelings inside. If we only address the superficial behaviours, we miss out on an opportunity to understand the whole person and create lasting, transformative change.

In this FREE workshop we will explore the root cause of the behaviours – the stories behind the actions. In hearing these stories, parents and caregivers will become better equipped to help their teen process through stress, anxiety and emotional obstacles in a supportive, wholistic manner.

*This workshop is intended for parents or caregivers of teens aged 13 - 19. If your child is under 13, please see our separate workshop*

You will learn:

  • The signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge and what you can do about it;

  • How to identify and understand your child’s emotional reactions, behaviours, and unexpressed needs;

  • The connection between the mind and body and the impact of distressing experiences;

  • New ways and strategies to effectively support your child, while building self-care skills to manage emotional reactions to difficult behaviours;

  • New, effective parenting skills, empathetic parental support, and healthy, secure attachments;

  • and much more.

In this safe, supportive space, you can share your stories, listen to others, and learn essential tools to guide your teen through the developmental years.

Led by Teen Mental Health Specialist: Jillian Hosey, Clinical Social Worker.

Spaces are limited! Reserve your spot today or contact us at 416.921.2273 or reception@helixhealthcaregroup.com
