Hospitality Career Pathways (HCP) and Connecting And Learning to Manage during COVID-19 (CALM)

The Hospitality Workers Training Centre has partnered with the Ontario Tourism Education Corporation to deliver two programs of interest. This information session will introduce participants to both programs.

HCP

This 8-week online program will prepare participants for entry-level employment in the hospitality sector.

In this program you will gain:

• Industry-specific skills and knowledge
• Food Handlers, Smart Serve, and WHMIS certification
• National emerit Workplace Essentials Certificate of Achievement
• Resume writing and interview skills
• Customer service and communication skills in a post-COVID world
• Weekly one-on-one coaching for career exploration and job search
• Up to 12 months post-program support

CALM

From personal reflection to an overview of transferable skills and emotional intelligence, this 8-week online program will help you manage through the stresses of COVID-19 and find your path again.

In this program you will:

• Identify personal strengths, challenges, and transferable skills
• Increase stress management strategies
• Develop an action plan to manage COVID-19
• Have weekly support from coaches and mentors for goal setting and exploring next steps to start preparing to look for work
• Network and develop new community connections

Program Eligibility :

• English language proficiency
• Grade 10 education (or pass equivalency test)
• Ontario Works (OW) recipient (CALM)
• Legally entitled to work in Canada (HCP)
• Internet access and a computer or smartphone that supports Zoom
