Free Will: a Theist and Atheist Perspective
From the Free Press on Sam Harris' Recent Book "Free Will":
A belief in free will touches nearly everything that human beings value. It is difficult to think about law, politics, religion, public policy, intimate relationships, morality—as well as feelings of remorse or personal achievement—without first imagining that every person is the true source of his or her thoughts and actions. And yet the facts tell us that free will is an illusion.
Our next Meeting of the Minds will discuss if humans have free will. We will explore the science that says otherwise, engage contemporary philosophy, present scenarios for group engagement, discuss the implications if free will is an illusion and have Jonathan and Pat provide a theist and atheist perspective. Join us for this unique convergence of minds! Registration is $5. Payment Options: $5 Online or $10 at door. Cash bar is open for purchasing beverages.
