Instructor: Anita Smith
Anita has been baking bread since her university days when she would knead dough to help relieve the stress of writing papers and exams. After retiring from teaching, she overheard her uncle’, he'd retired to Canada after working in California, lamenting that he couldn’t find any “real sourdough bread” in Canada.
Anita thought to herself, “how hard can it be?” and set out to learn how to bake that elusive loaf. She researched sourdough techniques, bought books, took online courses, attended workshops, and even worked in a local artisanal bakery. Today her uncle loves her San Francisco sourdough bread and she now bakes bread several times a week for a host of loyal customers.
During the pandemic Anita decided to grow beyond her sourdough skills and earned her Artisan Bread Certificate from George Brown College. You can take the teacher out of the school, but this teacher is always learning!
