Event Details

From conflict to collaboration - parenting tools for raising the next generation! This evening of discussion on Positive Discipline will spark interesting insights and bring up thoughtful discussions on parenting in a way that respects the needs of parents, the situation and the young person at the same time. This is not a lecture; active participation will be encouraged!

Hilary Diouf facilitates workshops that provide parents the tools they need to help their children develop self-discipline, cooperation and problem-solving skills. Her focus is on how to use kindness and firmness to create discipline that teaches rather than punishes.

Hilary Grant MacMahonHilary has been on her parenting journey for 15 years - with no signs of graduating any time soon! She says: "My children have been an education: I've been on the parenting journey for 15 years - with no signs of graduating any time soon. I also have a bachelor's degree in Social Work and 20 years’ experience working with young people and families. Though nothing quite prepares you for the intense challenges of the parenting journey. I have had the privilege of learning from young people in care in a variety of settings from special schools for young people with learning and behavioural challenges to detention centres. I became a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Resource Person in 2013 and Parent Educator in 2015. I’ve supported the implementation of Positive Discipline in schools in Switzerland and worked with a large number of care workers in residential homes. Since 2018 I have brought my knowledge and experience to parents in individual coaching and workshops. I bring all that I have learned while working with young people to supporting parents, caregivers, teachers, and social care workers in their vital role."

This is a scent-free event. Please refrain from using scented colognes, perfumes, hair products or soaps.

It's fine if you bring in outside food and drink.
We will have complimentary coffee & tea available.
Sparkling water & sodas available by donation.

ABOUT US:
Marit Collective is a social organization that encourages a culture of depth and thoughtfulness through exploring personal insight and human connection. We create space for respectful discussion and consciousness-raising within our own groups and community, working at the personal level to foster more empathy and awareness of each other. We believe that individual shifts in understanding can lead to larger societal evolution in an increasingly polarized world.

Our new home, the Causerie, is a place to listen, learn, and connect across perspectives. With this space, we are working to build a community centered around thoughtful discussion & deeper consideration of complex issues through sharing ideas and personal points-of-view.
