From Rio, with Love
Sat, 5 November 2016, 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM EDT
“From Rio, with Love” is Magisterra Soloists' first fundraising concert and silent auction! It arrives in the wake of the ensemble's inaugural two-week tour to Brazil and will showcase chamber music masterworks such as Mendelssohn's String Octet alongside exciting selections of Brazilian popular music.
You are invited to join us at the Hassan Law Community Gallery for some fantastic music, an assortment of delicious Brazilian finger foods and desserts, a silent auction, and updates on the important work the ensemble is doing to enrich artistic life locally and abroad.
A bit more about us...
Spearheaded by Prof. Annette-Barbara Vogel from Western University, Magisterra Soloists exists to fill a gap in the Canadian and International artistic landscape.
Magisterra Soloists seeks out lesser-known works and actively champions Canadian compositions, while launching young Canadian musicians onto the concert stage. In August they embarked on their first international tour: a six-city trek across South America’s largest country. The tour program featured Sapling, a brand new work for solo violin and strings by Canadian composer Emily Doolittle.
Over the past year, Magisterra Soloists has evolved into a permanent, grassroots not-for-profit organization. The ensemble provides an intense, meaningful, professional experience to young graduates and artists, along with student fellows in training. They also perform for school-aged groups having limited access to the arts through their outreach program, “Magisterra in Schools.” Having recently been granted not-for-profit status, they are now seeking charitable status in order to grow the scope of their work.
We hope you can join us for this wonderful evening! To reserve tickets, follow the green 'tickets' button at the top right of your screen or write to us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. All major credit cards are accepted.
