About this event
From the Ashes is an intersectional feminist public art exhibition, showcasing artist interpretations of realities faced by those who identify as women in Canada. Featuring the work of women artists, the aim is to educate, by displaying subject matter, meant to encourage reflection while most importantly, inspiring efforts to create a diverse, equitable community, striving to end violence against women.
This is an attempt to achieve a number of goals that align with our Hope 24/7’s vision, mission and values, and this art exhibition is a focused effort to raise awareness surrounding gender-based violence, showcasing a commitment to centering and amplifying our city’s most marginalized voices.
Through this exhibition, Hope 24/7 has partnered with Beaux Arts Brampton, an artist run space, in a joint effort to provide practicing female artists as well as our wider community, with a creative avenue to learn about the critical struggles that those who identify as women in Canada face.
As activists, Hope 24/7 aims to use this project to not only shed light on the prevalence of gender-based violence, but also to use our platforms and organizational stance to symbolize and initiate collective community impact and healing.
From The Ashes will be an immersive and accessible artistic experience, that is not only thought-provoking but that also inspires hope.
