Everything you need to know to get started in the blockchain industry all wrapped into one workshop in only six hours.

About this Event

Three workshops offered in one day from 11am - 5pm to immerse oneself in everything bitcoin, blockchain, smart contracts and digital currencies at our Vancouver Space.

1. BITCOIN, BLOCKCHAIN, AND BANKS (1hr workshop)

(20 minute break)

2. ETHEREUM AND SMART CONTRACTS (2hr workshop)

(40 minute break)

3. DIGITAL CURRENCIES AND DAPPS (2hr workshop)

1. Bitcoin, Blockchain, and Banks Workshop (1hr)

We break down how our current banking system works to understand how bitcoin compares to traditional options. The Blockwise staff have mastered teaching blockchain fundamentals so you get it, the first time.

- Learn how Bitcoin started and why it still lives today and likely for future generations,

- Learn how the blockchain secures data and allows for permissionless services,

- Learn to protect your wallets and ensure maximum security,

- Learn how Bitcoin’s PoW mining process differs from other mechanisms.

Get up to speed on bitcoin and how its introduction of the blockchain has shaped global financial systems going into 2020 and beyond.

2. Ethereum and Smart Contracts Workshop (2hr)

We get into the details of Ethereum and what it means for society as we automate contracts and develop new tokens on whim. Smart Contracts hold immense powers to disintermediate entire business models and allow fintech innovations to function seamlessly across borders.

- Learn how Ethereum started, and its early development roadmap

- Learn how Ethereum differs from Bitcoin technically and in its developer community,

- Learn how Smart Contracts can be deployed for Supply Chain Management,

- Learn the drawbacks to building applications on a platform like Ethereum.

Gain proficiency with smart contract systems by attending this workshop and immersing yourself in the world of Ethereum to know what’s next in ERC20 tokens, escrow contracts, and digital identities.

3. Digital Currencies and Distributed Apps Workshop (2hr)

We break down how coins obtain their value and how some investors measure value using technical and social indicators. Digital currencies will be broken down into their asset category and compared with like-kind assets using the aforementioned indicators. We help you get started using digital currencies by providing analysis on exchanges and other methods of asset acquisition as well as provide guidance on digital wallet best practices.

- Learn to compare assets wisely,

- Learn where digital currencies get their value,

- Learn how exchange fees compare to other alternatives,

- Learn to use digital wallets securely.

By the end of the workshop you should be able to categorize tokens, compare exchanges objectively, and use wallets with ease. Completion of this workshop includes optional reading material.

Chase Cedar

Chase’s roots in Bitcoin began by teaching his peers as a club leader in university, and since graduation, he created his own consultancy to help educate individuals and groups alike. Chase has spoken at universities and specialized conferences, helped build the Blockwise non-profit society, and trained over 120 RCMP personnel on the use (and misuse) of digital currencies.
