About this Event

7 WEEK COURSES | $255 + HST (ONE 3 HOUR CLASS PER WEEK FOR 7 WEEKS) Wednesday 6:00 pm - 9:00pm | Starts February 12

Watercolour is a fun, expressive and versatile medium. In this class we will be introduced to colour mixing, techniques and helpful tips that will have us well on our way to creating successful paintings of simple landscapes, still lifes, and abstract works. Participants will learn colour theory, colour mixing, creating value, techniques such as washes, graded washes, scratching out/in, resist, spatter, dry brush, wet on wet effects, and line and wash. What you learn here will give you the base to confidently play with your watercolours on at home!

MATERIAL COST: Participants will be required to purchase necessary materials from the College store such as watercolour paint, a palate, brushes and paper (approx. $40) however you are welcome to bring materials you already have from home.

Mariecke Leavitt has always been interested in the arts, studying for a B.A in Classics and Applied Arts, a B.Ed. High School Art Education and a M.Ed. in Curriculum Development with a focus on Art and Creativity from UNB. She has been teaching art for over 20 years, continually learning. Mariecke gets great satisfaction from seeing her students attempt new skills and gain confidence and pride in themselves through their learning. Creating art has the precious ability to calm, heal, and increase mental wellness through the creative process. I truly believe that the product of being creative extends well past a piece of art, to feeding our soul.
