Event description
Recent Choreography by Connie Moker Wenikowski, featuring whatever they sing, Salute to the Early Rockin Women, Kudro and guest work.

About this Event

Recent Choreography by Connie Moker Wenikowski, featuring four works:

whatever they sing, premiered April 2018. This work is inspired by Connie’s love of songbirds and her concern about their declining numbers. Danced by Michelle Korpan, Carleigh Macdonald, Natasha Molnar-Fluter and Katrina Currie.

Salute to the Early Rockin Women premiered May 2019 to music of Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) and Janis Joplin. Connie says “In creating this work I wanted to celebrate the music of these two women who stepped fiercely into the world of rock in the 1960’s. As a young teen, I used to close my door and dance wildly to their music.”

Kudro which will be premiered in this production, a collaboration by choreographer, Connie Moker Wernikowski, media and sound artist, Garry Wasyliw, and dancer, Katrina Currie. Supported by Canada Council for the Arts and Saskatchewan Arts Board.

Connie has always believed that mentoring younger dancers is an important part of her contribution to the art form of dance so she will also be including a short guest work performed by pre-professional dancers from the Youth Ballet of Saskatchewan.
