The Burnaby Board of Trade’s Access Student Career Development Program is here to help you with tips and tricks for a smooth transition from post-secondary to a successful career.

At this workshop, you will have the opportunity to meet Lower Mainland’s top professionals who will share their insights on the transferable skills that will help you stand out from the crowd.

Keynote Speaker - Charina Cruz

Charina Cruz is a Personal & Professional Development Coach whose mission and purpose is to help people create the career and life they want. Her quest has taken her around the world – living, inspiring and coaching in 5 continents. With over 15 years of experience, she brings a diverse background in recruiting, advising and business management. One of her fave experiences was as the Chief Experience Officer/ED of an adventure social enterprise in Africa. Combining supportive honesty and a good dose of humour - she strongly believes that cultivating a career and life you deserve should be a fun adventure.

She’s passionate about growth, progress and is generally always open to any situation that she can learn from, especially if it entails interesting people, cultivating positive impact or some sort of yummy food & drink.

Wayne Leslie

Wayne is the CEO at Down Syndrome Research Foundation. He is a dedicated, transformative senior leader with 20+ years of executive experience, the last fourteen years specializing in the charity & non-profit sector.

Sarah Lubik

Sarah is the co-director of Technology Entrepreneurship@SFU, Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Simon Fraser University, the co-founder and Marketing Director of Lungfish Dive Systems and a certified expert business/marketing coach. She has significant experience in both the academic and applied sides of high-tech entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education and innovation support.

Tanya Ponnan

People and Organizational Change Agent is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR),with worldwide experience in planning, organizing and coordinating a variety of employment and development initiatives. Committed to social change and the welfare of communities through education.

Shannon Skelley

Shannon Skelley is a Marketing and Communications Consultant and Business Educator with over 20 years experience. Industries she has worked in include healthcare, tech, financial services and wealth management, in numerous countries, including Malaysia, Russia, and Australia. She is a global mentor for the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women.
