The evening will feature the following talks:

Are we replaceable? by Nassim Tayari, Data Scientist at RBC

Nassim will go over the application of deep learning for image classification, object detection, segmentation, and registration. She will do an overview of studies per application area as well as cover open challenges and directions for future research in this area.

Building Apps using Cognitive Services by Pushker Sahai, Data Solution Architect at Microsoft

In this talk, Pushker will talk about building end-user facing applications by using Cognitive Services and other Machine Learning technologies. He will walk us through a quick demo as well as sharing other examples from Microsoft projects.

Introduction to Reinforcement Learning and its Application by Hani Almousli, Data Scientist at RBC

Reinforcement learning is a type of machine learning which allows machines and software agents to automatically determine the ideal behaviour within a specific context, in order to maximize its performance. Hani will be going over the fundamentals of reinforcement learning and over its many different applications.

Differential Privacy in Practice by Andrei Fajardo, Machine Learning Scientist at Integrate.AI

Differential privacy, a technique to insert noise into a machine learning or statistical model that obfuscates the relationship between individual data points and the insights they generate, is gradually shifting from theoretical research to practical applications. This talk will share lessons learned applying differential privacy to a model that segments customers based on propensity to purchase auto insurance.
