RBC Tech Community Team is proud to present FutureMakers Talks: New Kids on the Blockchain.
Please join us for an evening of networking, refreshments, and thought-provoking discussion on the use cases of Blockchain technology.
Blockchain technology is arguably one of the most disruptive technologies since the emergence of the Internet. It is a decentralized, distributed, encrypted and digital ledger that enables two or more parties to transact or do business without needing a third party to establish trust.

Biography
Greg Wolfond
Greg is the founder of SecureKey and brings more than 30 years of experience in fintech, security and mobile solutions to his role as Chief Executive Officer. Greg is a serial entrepreneurial whose earlier ventures include Footprint Software Inc., a financial software company he sold to IBM, and 724 Solutions Inc., a wireless infrastructure software provider he took public. He sits on several boards and has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, Entrepreneur of the Year and one of the 100 Top Leaders in Identity. Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Life Sciences from the University of Toronto.
Karim Hamasni
Karim Hamasni is a Development Lead for Crypto Asset Innovation with Global Asset Management. He prides himself on being a ‘geek’ that fully immerses himself in the latest technologies. He joined RBC in January of 2016 after winning two RBC sponsored Hackathon competitions, where he and his teams built proof of concept prototypes over two weekends. More recently, Karim was the technical lead of an Amplify team, a global summer long RBC hackathon, where he led a team of co-op students to win the Most Disruptive and People’s Choice awards and $25,000 in scholarships. Up until last September, Karim was the lead iOS developer for AVA, Advisors Virtual Assistant, a tool for DS Advisors to review client accounts. Karim has been interested in cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies since 2013. He co-founded a YouTube channel called Computer Science Breakdown where he and a friend share educational videos on various algorithm concepts. CS Breakdown recently crossed 1 million views and has over 12,000 subscribers
Niloo Ravaei
A filmmaker turned coder, Niloo screened her short film at the Cannes Film Festival and has helped FinTech startups in Toronto and San Francisco scale into some of the biggest players in the space. Niloo is a voracious learner with a knack for explaining complex concepts in simple terms. When she’s not exploring the latest advancements in Blockchain technology, she helps Toronto-based charities use technology to streamline their operations.
Ananya Chadha
Ananya Chadha is a 16 year-old blockchain developer from Toronto focused on the intersection between blockchain and other exponential technologies. She has developed two cryptocurrencies and crowdsale (ICO) smart contracts with the ERC20 tokens framework set by Ethereum. Recently, she won the Cryptochicks Hackathon with her project putting Genomic data on the blockchain. Ananya is also the youngest Brain Computer Interface (BCI) developer in the world and is sponsored by Microsoft for BCI development. http://www.ananyac.com/
Marc Lijour
Marc helps people and organizations realize their full potential, leveraging technology and freedom to innovate. He has more than 10 years experience in senior roles helping large institutions, particularly in the public sector, develop and implement innovative solutions, policies, and programs. Last year, he co-founded ColliderX to accelerate Open Source R&D on Blockchain. He currently works at ConsenSys, the largest Blockchain company with 800+ employees over 28 countries, to bring Ethereum to the enterprise market through its Corporate Venturing arm (Solutions).
Marc holds degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Business (MBA in the Management of Technology and Innovation), as well as several certifications in Education, and in IT Management. He has been an active Free Software evangelist for the last 20 years. He serves on a number of boards including the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC), the Toronto French Business Network (TFBN), and TechConnex."
Catherine Chen
Catherine Chen is the Founder and CEO of IG Liaison Strategy & Business Consulting. She advises companies and AI and blockchain startups on information governance. Before launching her own consulting firm, Catherine was the Head of Information Governance Practice at Baker & McKenzie – one of the largest global law firms. She was the first non-lawyer to lead the Information Governance Practice. Catherine has advised Fortune 500 companies on records management, privacy, cross-border data transfer, media/format, and related information governance issues.
What does Catherine believe? Data is driving digital transformation, and is the fuel for AI, blockchain, IoT and machine learning. Data is also a new commodity of the digital economy, and is more valuable than ever. Understanding data compliance and implementing a compliant data management program must be treated as a top priority.
Mohamed El Kandri
Mohamed is a Blockchain enthusiast who is passionate about Blockchain technology and committed to helping to grow the Blockchain ecosystem in Canada and around the world.
Mohamed is very active in the Blockchain space. He is the CEO of Fast Access Blockchain, program manager at The BlockchainHub, member of the Blockchain Global Consortium and also lead the C-Lab program, the first peer-to-peer community based incubation program for Blockchain startups. Mohamed is an award-winning in Blockchain, he is a recipient of the "Durland Innovation Award" for a Blockchain use case and holder of the "Beta Gamma Sigma Scholastic International Award”
FutureMakers Talk
The FutureMakers Talk series is an on-going meetup and learn tech community event presented by RBC. The talks are designed to bring tech enthusiasts, practitioners and experts in the tech community under one roof to share knowledge and discuss major tech advances. The series will feature stimulating discussions on machine learning, digital payments, digital design, cybersecurity and more.
