Event description
Last chance to see Gabriel Palatchi live in his 2019 Canadian Tour!

About this Event

Gabriel will be performing in a solo-concert organized by the Hispanic Canadian Alliance of Durham.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1982, Gabriel Palatchi started his first piano lessons at the age of eight. He spent his formative years in Buenos Aires studying classical piano, and being mentored by some of the great maestros of blues, tango, jazz and Latin jazz.

His first solo album Diario de Viaje (Travel Diary) in 2010 received critical acclaim from music industry journals and was chosen as one of the best Latin Jazz albums of the year by Jazz FM Toronto. He went on to record three further albums that cemented his unique sound, culminating in his fourth and latest album, Made in Canada (2018), which also happens to be his first live recording.

For the past eight years, Palatchi has been performing at major international music festivals, touring throughout Mexico, Canada and Europe.

On his last stop of his Canadian Tour 2019, Gabriel has agreed to offer a solo performance for the Hispanic Canadian community in the Durham Región. The AHCD is honored to host such a talented performer!

“It is impossible to leave a Gabriel Palatchi performance unsatisfied. Energy and passion, combined with skill, and a true love for music, has resulted in a dynamic musical juggernaut. His music is an original blend of different genres such as Latin Jazz, Tango, Funk, Gypsy, Reggae, Samba and Electronic, a representation of the many cultures that have influenced his music”

Gabriel’s concert is the kick off of Hispanic Month proclaimed by the Durham Región in October. There will be many other activities organized by the AHCD during this month that will end with Feria Latina 2019 in Ajax.

The vision of the AHCO is “To be recognized as a trustworthy and accountable cultural organization promoting the full participation of Hispanics in the political, social, cultural and educational areas of Durham.”

All funds raised go into the rental of an office space, a first for the organization since its foundation in 1989. With an office space the AHCD can further its offering of welcoming and settlement services into the Canadian society.
