Event description

Description

Join us for our amazing 24-hour hang out (think giant LAN party) with 200+ gamers: games, prizes, shenanigans, incentives, and more, with excellent Telus Fibre internet speeds for top-notch gaming and streaming. Surround windows with beautiful views of the downtown skyline await you from the 16th floor of Epcor Tower, the tallest building in Edmonton!

There is no cost to this event, but you do need to fundraise for the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation. Check out the criteria below.

More details about us and the event at: yegextralife.org.

Our thanks to Qualico Commercial for generously donating the venue for our fundraising.

Get Ready!

To attend our Game Day 2017 marathon event, you just need to do these things:

1. Create an Extra Life profile and join our team (Extra Life Edmonton) (https://rebrand.ly/signup-with-ele)

2. Start fundraising for the Stollery Children’s Hospital! There is a $75USD fundraising requirement to attend our event (see explanation below).

3. Successfully register your seats on Event Brite. Choose a window that gives you enough time to set up and test your station, mingle, and be ready for opening ceremonies at 1:30PM. Please use desktop to register for the best experience, including the option to pick your seats.

Each registration allows for selection of up to two seats. To secure their registered seat, each participant must have individually raised $75 USD under their own individual Extra Life profile by 11:59 PM on October 14, 2017. Tickets registered after October 14, 2017 will audited for compliance to this requirement. Questions? Check out yegextralife.org/how-to-attend.

Let's get excited for the final stretch of fundraising! Bring your friends! Remember that we are in this for the kids.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Photo identification is required upon arrival at the event. Student ID is fine.

Attendees of all ages are welcome, but those under 16 must be accompanied throughout the event by a parent or guardian. A waiver must be signed before participation in the event (soon to be available at yegextralife.org/waiver). Registrants under 18 must have the waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking will be free at Epcor Tower. You must enter the event via the parkade on P1 - you may NOT enter through the main doors. Public transit is convenient to Epcor Tower. For safety reasons, we recommend arranging your travel from the event in advance, such as pick up, an app like Uber or Tapp Car, or public transit - we do not recommend driving yourself home.

Learn more at yegextralife.org/arrival-and-departure.

Which arrival time should I choose? Will I miss anything if I arrive later?

Arrival times are designed to facilitate a smooth load-in for all attendees. Pick an arrival time that allows you enough time to set up and test your station before the event gets underway at 1:30PM. You won't miss any scheduled activities as long as you arrive during your arrival window.

Arrive for setup no later than the time stated on your ticket. If you arrive late, you may have to wait until other participants have had their equipment loaded before we can help you. Load in is not available after 1:00PM. If you are concerned, please contact us at extralifeeedmonton@gmail.com.

After I've checked in and set up my station, can I leave to go get lunch etc.?

Yes - just ensure that you bring your badge with you and you're back for opening ceremonies at 1:30PM. Note that we are not liable for any items left unattended.

What can/should I bring into the event?

Please refer to our lists of required, recommended, and prohibited items at yegextralife.org/what-to-bring and yegextralife.org/what-not-to-bring. Information about what we will provide is available at yegextralife.org/amenities.

You are expected to bring your own gaming equipment - anything you'd like to play for the 24 hours! We will have a board game library, "chill space", tournaments, and scheduled programming available. TVs over 40 inches are not allowed. CRT TVs may not be allowed - please contact us.

Please bring whatever will keep you comfortable over the 24-hour period. We encourage you to bring non-perishable snacks and a change of clothing.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please don't hesitate to contact us on Facebook (facebook.com/ExtraLifeEdmonton), other social media (@yegextralife), or email at extralifeedmonton@gmail.com.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. You may bring your electronic ticket on your smartphone or as a print out. You must have your ticket available to be scanned at the event upon arrival.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes; however, please avoid doing so within 48 hours of the event to allow us time to prepare our on-site registration.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

No. You must be registered under your own name, and your registration must match your Extra Life profile in order for us to check that you meet the minimum fundraising requirement. Duplicate registrations are subject to deletion without notice. Keep in mind that each person should be completing their own registration and/or a parent or guardian should be completing it on their behalf.

How do I sit with my friends? Can you move us to be seated together?

You will need to coordinate with your friends to choose seats at the same table. We are not able to edit attendees' registrations.
