Game Development Workshop | Using the Unity Game Engine

New Media Manitoba is happy to present this series of educational workshops on Unity to help you learn the various aspects and functionality of the Unity Game Engine in a fun collaborative environment. This is a community-driven event, and we thank our partners Electric Monk Media, The Winnipeg Game Collective, IGDA, and Winnipeg Unity User Group.

The workshop will be a 4 part series taking place on Saturday afternoons over the span of two months. Each workshop will begin with a 35-45 minute talk by a local game developer on a specific topic within Unity. Following a quick break, we then jam for two hours on the topic that was discussed individually or as a part of a group.
Ready to attend?
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Intermediate experience with the Unity Game Engine
- A laptop or desktop with Unity installed.(Arrangements can be made for users without access to a machine with advanced notice)
This is a 4-part series on Saturday afternoons from March through May.
Make sure to attend all of the sessions in order to get the most out of your Unity training experience.All four sessions are included in the cost of registration. We aren’t doing partial registrations at this time.

Game Development Workshop

Dylan Fries is the lead developer at Electric Monk Media, founder of the Winnipeg Game Collective and has organized a dozen game jams and several other developer events over the past 2 years.
Graeme Borland is a multidisciplinary developer who works on virtual reality games with Owlchemy Labs by day, and everything from self published indie games to freelance illustration by night. He has worked on projects both large and small, such as Job Simulator, Dyscourse, Mirror Mortis, and Sort the Court, and is an avid game jammer.
Amy Gerardy is a freelance digital artist who has worked on a variety of games and attended many game jams. She created the art for Sort the Court, Polydrone, Mirror Mortis, and has worked at Complex Games as a 2D and 3D artist.
