GameCamp Edmonton's monthly events are open to all professional, indie, hobbyist, student, and aspiring game developers, as well as people who are working in other technology and creative fields and are interested in learning more about the game development industry in Alberta. While GameCamp's main community focus is based in Edmonton, we welcome anyone and everyone who is interested in being a part of our community, even if they're outside of Edmonton!

This month, we are excited to welcome Marc Belisle, Co-Founder of Game Con Canada (GCC), an exciting new gaming expo making its debut at The BMO Center in Calgary, Alberta from June 23rd-25th. Game Con Canada is the largest gaming conference in Western Canada, welcoming both fans and developers of video games and table-top games, with a particular focus on celebrating and raising up our indie developer scene. GCC is sponsored by partners such as TELUS, Games Workshop, Rogers Media, Northern Arena, Child's Play Charity, Femme Gaming, Chic Geek, Grizzly Paw Brewery & Craft Soda, and more! In addition to the expo halls showcasing video and table-top games, GCC is offering a Meet to Match lounge solely allocated for industry use to facilitate networking.

Marc will be sharing information about the event and will be available to answer your questions! In particular, Marc will be sharing information about the Booth Subsidy Program, which will give approved vendors who purchase a physical booth a 50% rebate on the price of all booth spaces that will be provided within two weeks of the conclusion of the event. This program has limited spaces, and the GCC team would like to prioritize Albertan indie developers as much as possible.

This event is being hosted on the Alberta Game Developers Discord Server, in the GameCamp - Monthly Meet-Up voice channel. Both this server and the event are open for anyone to attend. After the talk there will be a short Q&A session, and then the rest of the night is open for networking! If you're so inclined, please feel free to stay in the Discord server so you can chat, mingle, and catch up with the rest of the community.
