Gather - YVR Tech Women: New Year Yoga Session
Event Information
Description
New Year, New YOU! We here at Gather want to welcome you back from the holidays and wish you all a Happy New Year!
For those of you joining us for the first time, we're a group organizing events aimed at bringing together awesome women (like you!) who work in tech while donating to a local cause. Proceeds from our ticket sales go directly to a nonprofit organization in Vancouver, with an option to contribute a little bit more to help us put on future events.
We're super excited about this event as it's a first for us! Please join us for a night of yoga, socializing, and charity.
Proceeds from this event will be going to the Alzheimer Society of BC in honour of Alzheimer's Awareness Month! We'll kick off the night with a presentation by Morgan Donahue, a Support and Education Coordinator at the Vancouver Resource Centre with the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
We're pleased to welcome the amazing Cecily Elmas who will be giving us all an hour-long beginner's yoga session to help us reset for the new year, followed by refreshments. Cecily is a certified yoga instructor through lululemon's Mindfulon Yoga/Leadership Teacher Training as well as a co-owner of Be Guided.
There will be self-serve refreshments for everyone provided by our lovely host, Moz. Please note that Moz’s space is on the third floor and thus is not wheelchair accessible. We apologize for any guests who may not be able to attend because of this, and we're striving to ensure future events are accessible to all. If you know of any accessible, free, event spaces for us to look at, we'd greatly appreciate it.
**Please bring your own yoga mat!
Yours truly,
The ladies of Gather

ABOUT US
The goal of Gather is to build community, to support each other, make meaningful connections, and give back to the larger community - all while having a fun time in a low pressure environment (no thanks to stuffy networking events). LOCATION
Moz (formally STAT Search Analytics) is a Seattle-based company who recently acquired STAT Search Analytics. They focus on local SEO expertise and keyword and link research tools for their clients. Their Vancouver office works on all things related to localized rankings and SERP analytics.
SPEAKERS
Cecily Elmas currently leads personal development work through lululemon and co-owns Be Guided with her husband, Peter. With over 15 years of experience, “[her] passion is helping people see themselves as they truly are + inspiring them to be brave, reach their goals, and tap into their own greatness.” Learn more about the work she is doing at Be Guided here: http://www.beguided.ca
Morgan Donahue is a Support and Education Coordinator at the Vancouver Resource Centre with the Alzheimer Society of B.C. Morgan has been part of the Society for the past three years, starting first as a volunteer and then as a staff member. She has worked with older adults and people living with dementia for over ten years in assisted living, residential, and community-based mental health settings. In her current role, Morgan supports both people living with dementia and their friends/family members through various workshops, support groups, and phone support calls to learn more about living well with dementia and connecting them to other resources and programs.
