Gay Places and E-Spaces: How online dating changed Davie
Event Information
Event description
Description
With the boom of computer-based technology in the last 20 years, LGBTQ folks especially gay, bi and other guys who are into guys are increasingly using apps and websites to make friends, date, “hook-up” and find partners.
There is often talk about what impact this has had on the community, if any. Have these new ways of connection made the pre-existing methods obsolete? Has our sense of community connectedness changed? What impact does hook-up app use have on the individual and collective health of the gay community?
Hosted by Vancouver drag queen, Peach Cobblah, Gay Places and e-Spaces is the Momentum Health Study’s attempt at exploring some of these questions.
Join us for our talk-show where we hear from local community icons, researchers and experts and about their thoughts on how e-spaces have impacted our Vancouver gay places. We are hoping to include a variety of perspectives, including yours.
