Gay the 4th: A Fundraiser!

Gay the Fourth IS the fundraising event you are looking for! In wanting to foster more connection and community in this dumpster fire of a time, we have organized an evening of burner fun, star wars nerdery, and queer joy.

Costumes are encouraged, shenanigans a must! Immediacy and interactivity are important to us!

What are we fundraising for?

Somebody Who Loves You productions are a non-profit collaborative looking to bring more of the weird into Vancouver - centering queer spaces, social connection, and overall revelry.

In fundraising, we seek to build a small foundation that will support us to compensate future artists and give back to community. We will be donating a % of our proceeds towards justice oriented charities after each event.

What do we seek to create:

Our main goals in organizing these events are to foster community and connection, keeping it weird (more space for the avant garde and queer performance art), and to play damn good music for the gays. Expect introvert hours, games to build connection, slow dances and weird performances.

A note:

As part of this fundraiser, we welcome people of all sexualtities to partake. Allies are welcome!

Accessibility: We will post event access information when available and are exploring options for live-streaming performances and interactivity.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT:

We recognize these events are and will be held on the stolen, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. As we live and organize queer spaces as settlers on these lands, we have an obligation to continuously work to repair harms perpetrated upon Indigenous communities, presently and historically. Settler colonialism has brought and continues to bring violence to these lands - it is our responsibility to do better. As a small act towards this work, we will donate a % of our proceeds to the Indigenous Residential School Survivors Society.
