Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
TELUS Centre, Room 150

The Hidden Talents of Everyday Things
The craft of design is about feeling-things-out as well as seeing. Interactive designed objects can tap into the sophisticated—and uniquely human—way that our senses navigate complexity through physical intuition. When we push to assess material resistance, squint to gauge contrast, or stand back to feel the emotional impact of a design, we are using a give-and-take tinkering logic to experience the structure of our world. Because of this, design can be a method for testing and exploring the world—one that uncovers new possibilities hiding in plain view.

Opening the talk is local, award winning designer and artist
Vikki Wiercinski.

Kelli Anderson Workshop:
Wednesday, March 20th
6 – 9 p.m.
Visual Communications Design Studio 2-38 A+B
(second floor Fine Arts Building)

Make a Functional Camera Pop-Up Book with Kelli Anderson
Transform a flat piece of paper into a functional pinhole camera, while learning how light works. You can then use your camera with photo paper (provided) to take large-format pictures—which you can develop in instant coffee and baking soda.
