BRING YOUR BOOMERS #2
Join us for an evening of intergenerational dialogue around activism and social change.
With the all the inspiring youth-led movements happening in NYC, Egypt, Tunisia, London and elsewhere, we believe inter-generational dialogue is essential in order to move forward and build new social systems together.
Check out the details below and grab your tickets fast - this event will sell out! Our last Bring Your Boomers Party was a huge success.
TOPIC:
Change everything. As technology and globalization speed forward, the generations have become divided. ‘Bring Your Boomers’ celebrates three generations of influencers, innovators and idealists coming together to dialogue around new and old forms of civic participation that influence how we collectively shape our city, province, country and planet.
DIALOGUE FORMAT:
We will have two on-stage dialogue sessions - each consisting of a Gen Y’er, X’er and Baby Boomer, sharing ideas and stories in order to unpack what it means to be an "activist" and how we can turn activism into a common social practice.
SPEAKERS:
Judy Rebick (journalist, political activist and feminist) - BOOMER
Phil Fontaine (previous National Chief of Canada) - BOOMER
Andrea Reimer (Vision Vancouver City Councillor) - X'er
John Richardson (Pivot Legal Society / Party X) - X'er
Emily Hunter (environmental advocacy journalist) - Y'er
Jamie Biggar (Co-Founder and Executive Director of LeadNow.ca) - Y'er
ENTERTAINMENT:
Crowd engagement by Mike Sheehan from Beatboard, theater performance by Tiger Milk Collective, a magic show, door prizes and local art. Music by renowned recording artist Aidan Knight .
WHY:
We believe that a positive message makes all the difference. Our goal is to contribute to an inclusive culture of independent thinking, cultural alternatives, progressive politics, racial integration, art, music, creativity, intelligence, peace and respect for all living things. But we need to work together - across generations, ideologies and disciplines in order to re-imagine a different society.
