Mobilize for collective action and advocacy - meet the people in Western Canada and the Western U.S. who are fired up.

What are the doors that, if opened, would detonate big changes? Gain inspiration and experience from the global movement for gender equality - and why the global and local movements are important to each other.

What needs to happen here and now? Discuss what government, business and civil society can and must do - together.

Who will speak as one voice? Unite in a workshop to plan next steps for action and advocacy at tthe local and national level.

Keynote Speaker 1: Bette Levy, Vice Chair of the NGO (non governmentalorganization) Committee of the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women. How the global forum impacts us here and now. Bette is coming from New York.

Keynote Speaker 2: Emilia Reyes, Gender-Responsive Public Policy Consultant to UN Women, Governments of Finland, Denmark, Mexico. Weaving Gender Equality into Society: what works and what we must be vigilant to include. Emilia comes from Mexico City.

Additional Panel Members:

Senator Mobina Jaffer, most recently the Chair of the Senate study on sexual exploitation of children; former Chair of the Canadian Committee on Women, Peace, and Security.

Ajit Mehat, former Director General at Human Resources & Skills Development Canada, and CEO of OHSA at Health Canada. Ajit has spearheaded changes to policies to support vulnerable female populations.

Dr Maureen Fitzgerald, Gender Diversity Advisor, human rights lawyer and author. Maureen has consulted to many corporations on increasing gender diversity and equality. As a labour lawyer she fought for human rights and women's equality.
