Event description

Description

"GENi: This Is My Story” is a speaker series consisting of four events that will take place over a period of four months on Treaty 7 territory and in Calgary, AB. The four events will weave a narrative analogous to how Elders pass on the story of their tribes and nations to the next generation. This narrative will be focused on including the current and future generations of young Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and will look forward to reconciliation between all Treaty People. As Elders pass on knowledge to the next generation through sharing of stories and traditions, today's generation signals a new era, sharing pain and pride, wearing our histories proudly on our backs.

Our first event is entitled "We Are All Treaty People" and will explore treaty rights and collaborating as treaty people. Refreshments will be provided so please bring reusable dishware!!

Panel Speakers:
Stoney Nakoda Nation- Thomas Snow Thomas Snow
Metis Region 3- Michael Broadfoot
Tsuu Tina Nation- Hal Eagletail
Kainai Nation- Lindsey Red Crow
Piikani Nation- Lowa Beebe
Siksika Nation- Clarence Wolfleg (Elder) or Miiksikaam (Red Crane).

A special thanks to our wonderful speakers who have agreed to share their stories, and to our sponsor Calgary Public Library.
