Description

Join the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre for a screening of the classic films by pioneering French filmmaker Georges Méliès in the Planetarium Star Theatre. The films include “A Trip to the Moon” (1902), “The Astronomer’s Dream” (1898), and “The Eclipse” (1907). The films will be accompanied by a live electronic score provided by Owen Connell.

These films are considered to be some of the earliest science fiction films ever made. The evening will start off with a discussion lead by film historian Michael Van Den Bos, and astronomer Christa Van Laerhoven examining their importance and influence on the genre.

Doors open at 7:00pm and the show will start at 7:30pm.
