Join us in the planetarium star theatre as we celebrate pioneering French filmmaker Georges Méliès‘ classic work.
We will debut Méliès‘ “The Impossible Voyage” (1904), and Thomas Edison‘s film “A Trip to Mars” (1910), and back by popular demand we will be screening “A Trip to the Moon” (1902).

Owen Connell (Plasteroid) will be returning to debut two new scores to accompany the films with a repeat performance of his magnificent electronic score to the magical “A Trip to the Moon” (1902).

Méliès‘ films are considered to be some of the earliest science fiction films ever made. Between screenings film historian Michael Van Den Bos will discuss the importance and influence his work had on the genre. Our astronomy education team will also be talking about the cosmic relevance of the films.
