Event description

Description

The 2020 Freeport Physicians’ Education Day, Geriatric Care in the 2020s has been postponed until May 5, 2021.

We are hoping to present the same program as planned for 2020, but will confirm late fall, 2020. We will no doubt include lessons learned from the current COVID-19 crisis.

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and obey public health measures to keep everyone safe. A big thank you to all health care workers and other people working through this time to treat the sick and keep everyone else fed and healthy.

Planned topics include:

Dr, Hemant Shah will return for a 2nd year as our morning keynote speaker. He will speak on the Diagnosis and Management of Fatty Liver Disease.

The Dr. Don Geiger keynote speaker in the afternoon will be our own Dr. Fred Mather, giving us Lessons Learned from the LTC Inquiry.

Other topics will include: An Update on COPD; Management of Acute Stroke; Geriatric Pearls; Management of CHF in the Context of Chronic Renal Failure; The Interprofessional Spine Assessment and Education Clinic; and A Stepwise Approach to Diabetes Management. Presentations will be of interest to physicians, nurses and allied health professionals. The full agenda is available on our website, www.freeportcme.ca.

A light buffet breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 am. The conference will begin at 9:00 am sharp. Refreshments and a buffet lunch are included.

Please join us on May 5, 2021 for a locally organized, high quality, Geriatric Education Day.
