Event description

Description

Would you like to create a garden that's inspired by the plants that have grown here for thousands of years? These native plants support ecosystems of local animals, and many are edible and medicinal as well. Discover indigenous plants of coastal British Columbia, and learn about their current and historic uses.

Senaqwila Wyss is Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), Tsimshian, Sto:lo, Hawaiian and Swiss. She is almost complete her education at SFU and completing the Squamish Language immersion program, raising her 2 year old daughter to be a first language speaker, which has not been done in her family for generations. She practices ethnobotany with traditionally trained mom Cease Wyss with indigenous plant medicines.
