Event description

Description

As part of Indigenous Education Week at the University of Toronto (Oct 30-Nov 3, 2017), Getting Elsewhere: Shared Futures on Selfsame Land will explore relationships between Indigenous and Black peoples on Turtle Island to imagine new (and old) possibilities.

The program is divided into two panels: the first will be dedicated to the getting in Getting Elsewhere, whereas the second panel will consider the elsewhere. It will be a conversation between scholars, thinkers, and community members. Panelists include Idil Abdillahi, Billy Ray Belcourt, Cherie Dimaline, Nicholas Galanin, Kyle Mays, Shay Akil McLean, Fikile Nxumalo, Zoe Samudzi, Mistinguette Smith, Nazbah Tom, Ciann Wilson and Chelsea Vowel. Moderated by Eve Tuck.

Accessibility: Both panels are held in the East Common Room in Hart House. It is located on the first floor. The multi-purpose room has wooden floors. There are wheelchair-accessible entrances at Tower Road and at the Great Hall. Gender neutral washrooms are available.

Join us in a public event for Indigenous and Black people to think through their futures together.
