GFF 2016 - MTS Stories from Home 2: Winnipeg Love/Hate - FRI JULY 22 3:00PM
Fri, 22 July 2016, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM CDT
Sponsored by MTS Stories from Home, "Winnipeg Love / Hate" is a collection of made-in-Manitoba films that explore Winnipeg's reputation as a proud but also self-loathing small prairie city. In this celebration of Winnipeg's greatest worst hits, we look at our love/hate of mosquitos, surface level parking lots and the bitterly cold winters.
An historical tour of a few of downtown Winnipeg's many surface parking lots.
Buzz… examines the culture that surrounds the not-so-humble mosquito and asks: What would our lives would be like without it?
Colder Than Mars
Colder Than Mars is a window into an average day in the lives of a range of Winnipeggers contending with winter's icy grip. Some choose to embrace the season and find the joy of sport and play, turn a profit, or even uncover art in the surrounding ice and snow. Others simply confront the cold as a fact of life and do their part to move past it.
