The topography of this National Park alone is enough to keep nature photographers busy for weeks, no wonder its called the crown of North America. Layer in over 200 waterfalls, massive mountain peaks surrounding the entire Going to the Sun Road, and Glacier backdrops, every corner has something to capture on camera. This unique environment offers endless sunrise and sunset opportunities; whether back dropped against a mountain range, reflections on water, or sunrise in an open field of elk it is truly awe inspiring. There is an abundance of wildlife throughout the park; Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goats, Elk, Moose, Bears (Black and Grizzly), Deer, and Birds to name a few. If you are looking to learn both landscape and wildlife photography, this may be one of the best places in America to achieve both. Not only are your group leaders experts in photographing and navigating these magnificent landmarks; they pride themselves on maintaining and respecting the natural environment of all parks they visit.

Lodging: We will be staying on the west end of the park, close to the entrance and airport at an excellent lodge. The second half of the trip we are staying at a lodge on the east side, inside the park and on the water. This will give us a great advantage in photographing early mornings into sunset. Both lodges are in high demand during this short season, we are proud to work through our partners to secure these precious accommodations, as many are already booked in 2018 and into 2019.

Objectives for the Trip:

  • Create a learning environment where we get both you and your camera ready for the many types of wildlife and nature photography opportunities we will experience. There will be several working sessions in the field to help you improve your photography skills and practice anticipating and reacting to both animals and the environment in which you are shooting.
  • Visit locations that place our photographers in the best viewing areas to capture animals in their natural habitat. Including Moose, Elk, Bear, Deer, Wolves, Mountain Goats, Bighorn Sheep, and many other animals as presented. Our focus will be early mornings and late afternoons in locations that give our clients the best chance to photograph at designated, safe distances.
  • There is hiking involved in this excursion. Many of the key animal viewing areas and waterfalls, are isolated. The maximum hike (on paths) range from ¼ mile to a 5 mile round trip. There will be some elevation gain on most hikes. We have hiked 3 key areas and were comfortable carrying our camera equipment and water.
  • Locations we will visit within the park: Lake McDonald areas, Logan Pass, Hidden Lake, Sunrift Gorge, Rising Sun, St. Mary, Many Glaciers, plus a few other unique areas.
  • We are authorized park permittees in all government regulated locations we visit, this includes National Parks and Wildlife Refuges. We follow all park regulations and uphold the values established to protect you and the park we are visiting. Be careful booking any trip with travel companies that cannot provide proper documentation, it can end your trip very quickly.
