Description

The Glenn Elford Education and Development Fund
1st Annual Golf Classic

Good day, my name is Mathew Granger founder of the Glenn Elford Education and Development Fund in support of those living with Parkinson’s disease.
At the age of 16 years old, I organized and developed “Blade for a Cure” which would consist of a 12-day 600-kilometer rollerblade across Ontario. My hopes, raising money for persons living with and impacted by Parkinson’s disease, my encouragement, a man named Glenn Elford. At the age of 14, I had been introduced to a man named Glenn Elford through my mom, a personal support worker. Glenn had been living with Parkinson’s for many years and at such a young age I didn’t quite understand the disease. I would visit Glenn often with my mom, as we became close to the Elford family. I would bring homework over and work on it while mom assisted Glenn. I became very intrigued by this disease and started asking questions and doing my own research trying to figure it all out. At the time no one was really bringing out the awareness to Parkinson’s, so I decided to create “Blade for a Cure”. This journey consisted of rollerblading across Ontario, all the way to being eligible for a Guinness World Record for the Greatest Distance Travelled Backwards on Inline skates within 24 hours. I even was invited to Bristol Tennessee where I skated one lap around the Nascar track, opening the race ceremonies for the Sprint Cup series.
Throughout my journey, I have always wanted to create a fund in the legacy of Glenn Elford, who passed shortly before my rollerblade across Ontario began. So, in August of 2018 on the 25th day, Firerock Golf Club will be hosting my 1st Annual Glenn Elford Memorial Golf Classic.
I am reaching out to you for sponsorship opportunities. We have many different corporate sponsorship opportunities for a very small fee. All money raised and donated is being utilized within your community to support persons living with and affected by Parkinson’s. Our sponsorship fees along with golf registration fees are attached below.
I want to thank you for considering this opportunity, and hope to work with you and your company in supporting the hundreds of thousands affected by this neurological disease.
