Event description

Description

ACGC and member organizations are strong supporters of global citizenship education in Alberta, playing a supporting role to local schools, teachers, and youth as they work to develop a global mindset, focused on peace, justice, sustainable development, and human rights. In 2013, the Alberta Government began to re-design the K-12 curriculum, and the first stage of this redesign is set to be signed off by the Minister of Education in December 2018.

To support organizations to prepare for these changes, ACGC will be hosting a workshop for ACGC Member organizations on Friday, May 4th. During this workshop we will:

1. Learn about the 'nuts and bolts' of the new curriculum, key concepts, and the phases of development

2. Understand the expanded role global citizenship education plays within the new curriculum.

3. Share and learn from each other, about what works and what doesn't, and begin to brainstorm new ways to support teachers and students.

This workshop is open to ACGC members and affiliates only. Lunch will be provided.

Please RSVP by Wednesday, May 2nd.
