Event description

Description

On October 19th from 12-1PM, join the global health team for the next instalment in our Seminar Series, featuring PhD candidate Anna Gottschlich, who will be discussing her research in HPV self-testing in Guatemala and Latin America. Everyone is invited to come learn about global health work from a student perspective, and refreshments will be provided!

Anna Gottschlich is a PhD candidate in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She received a BA in mathematics and secondary teaching certificates in mathematics and psychology from the University of Michigan. After completing her undergraduate education, Ms. Gottschlich spent four years teaching high school math on the south side of Chicago before returning to UM to complete an MPH in global health epidemiology and then beginning her PhD in the same department. She is currently an NIH/NCI T32 Biostatistics Training in Cancer Research pre-doctoral trainee.

Ms. Gottschlich’s research interests focuses on designing, testing, and implementing novel approaches to cancer control and prevention in developing countries through both community studies and mathematical modeling. Specific interests include women’s reproductive cancers, including the use of HPV testing as an alternative form of primary cervical cancer screening in Guatemala, Latin America, and other low- and middle-income countries around the world.
