Come learn how you can take your education at Ryerson global!

Global Learning Week is a week full of events that highlights the many global learning opportunities available to Ryerson students. Semester or year-long exchange, summer research or work abroad, short-term faculty-led international courses, or even global learning events and programs on campus - there is a way for everyone to experience global learning, whatever your needs and budget. So come learn how you can go global with Ryerson.

Please note: Our events are free and open to the Ryerson community at large. For some of our events, we encourage you to register to help us plan appropriately. However, feel free to drop-in as well.

Monday October 28th, 2019

Global Learning Fair | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.| SLC Amphitheater

Visit the Global Learning Fair to learn about the five main ways you can engage in global learning while at Ryerson: Semester or Year-Long Exchange, Work Abroad, Research Abroad, Faculty- or Staff-Led Global Learning Programs Abroad (GLPAs), and Global Learning on Campus.

Get first-hand accounts of what it’s like to participate in these opportunities from past student participants. Chat with our knowledgeable staff and have your academic and funding questions answered. Participate in our raffle and win some cool travel prizes. Don’t miss your chance to learn how you can go abroad.

Interested in going on exchange? Come chat with your Faculty of Science exchange coordinator. Learn about the Faculty of Science’s exchange opportunities, and get informed about academic considerations and financing.

Mental Health While Abroad | 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. | VIC 303 | Registration encouraged

Taking part in global learning activities can open the door for an exciting and enriching experience. However, travelling and studying abroad can also trigger mental health issues such as stress, depression and homesickness. Learn how to take care of your mental health by recognizing symptoms and learning strategies to cope with mental health issues while abroad.

TRSM Exchange Panel and Fair | 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. | CPA Lounge, TRS1-003

Are you a TRSM student interested in the international student exchange program? Do you want to gain international business exposure? Come hear from former and current TRSM exchange students at the TRSM Exchange Fair & Panel Discussion about their exchange experiences. You’ll also be able to find out more about TRSM’s destinations and application process.

“Dreams” Film Screening | 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. | SLC 508

Join us to view a film screening of "Dreams", a Ryerson-alumni created film. Engage in conversations about stereotypes of Latino youth, U.S. undocumented immigration laws affecting Canadians, and empathy. Check out the "Dreams" trailer on YouTube.Refreshments will be provided.

Through The Looking Glass Storytelling Event | 6:30 p.m - 9 p.m. | DMZ Sandbox | Registration encouraged

Ryerson International and Replay Storytelling will be hosting the first-ever night of student storytelling for Global Learning Week on Tuesday, Oct 29th at the DMZ sandbox. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Storytelling beings at 7 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.

The theme for the night is Through The Looking Glass: Stories About Living and Learning Away From Home. Join us for a night of stories from our very own student community about the adventures and misadventures that arise when living abroad.

Want to participate in a global learning program, but don't know if you can afford it? Not sure what funding or financial support is available? Get a jumpstart on the planning process and learn about funding, budgeting, and saving for your global learning experience. Feel free to bring a lunch!

This event is open to all students interested in learning from and connecting with Ryerson students who have or are considering travelling abroad. Participants will reflect on how their experiences were shaped by their social location and share stories about international learning from diverse perspectives.

Join others to share and process your experience, while engaging in guided reflection on the ways you have grown or shifted after coming home. It’s not always easy (some say it’s the hardest part!) and that’s why we are here to support and encourage you to consider how you can carry your experience(s) forward.
