A workshop for scientific writers

This workshop will focus on essential skills and tips for scientific writers when writing for journal publications, including elements to communicate effectively with journal reviewers/supervisors when addressing revisions, conflict requests, and comments.

Kate Pratt

Kate Pratt is a Graduate Writing Specialist at the Academic Success Centre at the University of Alberta. She helps graduate students, postdocs and faculty members to revise documents, including thesis chapters, journal articles and funding proposals. She holds a PhD in English from the U of A. She also teaches courses in the Department of English and Film Studies on campus. Her research interests include mentoring developing writers and facilitating writing groups. She is currently working on revising a paper on Othello for publication.

Jonathan Simmons

Jonathan Simmons is a Graduate Writing Specialist in the Academic Success Centre at the University of Alberta. He works with students in all university disciplines on advanced academic writing tasks, including theses and dissertations, journal articles, and grant/fellowship applications. In addition to offering writing services, he maintains an active research program and publishes regularly.
