About Shia Su, Blogger of Wasteland Rebel
Blogger Shia was running one of the most successful German food blog Cake Invasion when she started her zero waste journey in September 2014. Lacking self-discipline and being too fun-oriented, she only ever intended to be “a tad more conscious” when it came to waste. Little did she expect it could be so easy, doable, and a shameless amount of fun. As the very vocal person she is, she just was not able to shut up about it, which led to her spin-off blog Wasteland Rebel and a lot of media attention, with her face and zero waste story on national TV, radio, magazines, and newspapers. Furthermore, TV and radio programs booked her as sustainability expert, which landed her a weekly column on the German public service broadcaster’s cosmopolitan and intercultural radio station COSMO, where she talks about topics ranging from palm oil, waste management, energy efficiency, water and carbon footprint to veganism. She also gives talks on zero waste and sustainability at schools, universities, companies, fairs, NPOs, and – for the fun of it – bars.
