Event description

Description

Newfoundland was the only British colony in North America to strike gold coins for general circulation. This was remarkable given that Newfoundland was one of the poorest of the British possessions in North America with an economy largely based on the barter system. This book by Harvey B. Richer explores how the history of Newfoundland was shaped by its coinage and how these coins became treasured by collectors worldwide.

Reception to follow.
