Gr. 2 - Magnetism + Small Flying and Crawling Animals
Wed, 15 March 2017, 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM MDT
Registration begins at 6:15 pm.
Learn from engineer and award winning outreach presenter Kimmee Fischer about the mysteries of magnetism. Discover innovative ways to teach concepts like hypothesis testing, magnetic polarity and “magnetization”. Find out why not all metal materials are magnetized and leave with hands-on activities for testing magnetic strength, building a compass, and exploring the invisible magnetic field.
Small Crawling & Flying Animals
There are many more small animals than there are big ones. One could say, it's the little critters that rule the world! Biologist and science outreach specialist Jeffrey Newton will share hands-on ideas for exploring the crawlies - without the creepy! Focusing on invertebrates found in your backyard; learn about their special characteristics, what they need to survive, where they fit in the food chain and which ones are helpful or harmful to humans.
