About this event

Are you looking to build and test your leadership skills as a graduate student? Are you ready to take your leadership skills to the next level? The Ryerson Leadership Lab and the Graduate Leadership Institute are partnering to offer a pilot change-making program specifically for graduate students!

To find out all about this pilot program, please come to the information session!

The opportunity

  • Improve your leadership skills with specialized training and professional development.
  • Be part of an energizing and innovative space for Ryerson graduate students to build and test community organizing tactics.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and strategize positive change with real-world applications.
  • Receive a digital badge upon completion to use on your resumé, CV and LinkedIn profile. This program also qualifies for the YSGS Future Smart program.

How it works

The GRADLeaders program will bring together current graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and recent graduate alumni to work in groups of four to five to create a project aligned with the Ryerson Leadership Lab’s priorities of climate change, technology and youth unemployment.

Working with their team members, participants will co-create a project with the aim of making meaningful and positive change in one of the three subject matter areas before the end of the academic year. Participants will receive community-organizing training from the Ryerson Leadership Lab and leadership advising from the Graduate Leadership Institute throughout the program to help build their skills and overcome any roadblocks.

This pilot program is open to current Ryerson graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and recent graduate alumni who have graduated in the past six months.
