The Gala Finale concert of the inaugural Great Canadian Brass Band Festival features the finest brass band in the country conducted by one of the finest brass conductors on the continent together with one of the best euphonium soloists in the world. Wow!
Gary Curtin, Solo Euphonium of the Foden’s Band and Philip Smith, retired Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, lead this concert of spectacular music for brass, including new music commissioned for this concert by Marcus Venables and Juno Award nominated composer Kristofer Maddigan.
In addition to solos by our internationally renowned guest artist, Gary Curtain, the band will perform Peter Graham’s Metropolis 1927.
The grand finale to the evening will have the HSSB joined with Community Band members in a work commissioned especially for this event by Canadian composer Marcus Venables. This is sure to be a spectacular evening of the finest in brass banding!
