Announcing the 2020 Virtual Green Building Festival: Same great programming - new format! 

Placing the health and safety of our community first, the Green Building Festival will be entirely virtual this year. 

The 2020 Green Building Festival is guaranteed to deliver the same innovative, high value content in an exciting new format, and an affordable $50 Digital Delegate pass to access all programming and continuing education hours!

BIO: Ecological Principles in Buildings and Cities

Today's visionary practitioners are building with an ecological mindset, leveraging natural processes in design, materials, construction and operations to create a deeper integration between biology and our urban developments. The 2020 Green Building Festival explores some of the most innovative approaches for buildings and cities to both mimic and nurture ecosystems. 

Attend GBF20 and explore Biodiversity, Biomimicry, Biogenics, Bioresources, Bioeconomy and other generative processes that strive to achieve circularity and the enhancement of nature in the built environment.

Taking place October 14 - 16, 7 hours over 3 days ,the Virtual GBF20 will include

  • a 3 day series of livestream digital segments including keynote speakers and panel presentations
  • moderated and interactive Q&A's with Festival presenters
  • online poster presentation and exhibit hall
  • a virtual networking reception

  • Featuring Steven Ware, Architect, Biologist and Partner at Art&Build Architects Keynote Presentation: The Return of the Living
  • Dr. Wil Srubar, Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder Keynote Presentation: Carbon-Storing Bio-Architecture

Earth Sciences & the Ecological City

  • Presenters include Liat Margolis and Danijela Puric-Mladenovic of the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, University of Toronto, and Nicole North of Walker Environmental, a division of Walker Industries

Integrated Project Delivery of Bio-Centric Projects

  • A panel of IPD team members discuss the fascinating Oakville Fire Hall project, including Bill Lett of Lett Architects; Steve Holyk of LEA Consulting; Patrick Chouinard of Element5 and Eban Hamilton

Bio City Approaches

  • Featuring keynote speaker Peter Kindel, Director, City Design Practice, Skidmore Owings & Merrill on Biomorphic Urbanism & the Future of Cities, a project featured in National Geographic
