Event description

Description

Thank you for attending our meeting in September! In October, our speakers are Andrea Curley and Helen Snell.

Andrea Curley, Manager at the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation.

Andrea Curley is the Manager at the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation. Andrea supports the day-to-day operations of the Intact Centre, as well as oversees research on best practices to address extreme heat in urban communities across Canada. Prior to joining the Intact Centre, Andrea worked at Forests Ontario as the Business Development Manager and within the financial sector at Meridian Credit Union. Andrea completed her B.Sc in Biological Science with emphasis of her studies on marine biology and holds a M.Env.Sc. from the University of Guelph.

Helen Snell, published author, speaker, blogger, and an advocate for planet earth.

Until February of this year the Canada Food Guide did not represent a healthy diet for Canadians. The awakening to both the North American health crisis, and the fragility of the planet has produced an onslaught of misrepresentation, some intentional, and a smaller percentage, purely unaware.
Helen believes strongly that our food, our health, and a sustainable planet are all closely connected. She will provide a candid look at 'green' and 'health' trends, labels, and myths to help us on our journey to 'treat yourself better; treat the earth better'.
