Three interactive workshops to help Community League members learn about:

  • climate trends
  • prepare for extreme weather events
  • develop an adaptation action plan

Each session builds on information from the session before, so participants should sign-up for and plan to attend all three sessions to get the most out of the workshop.

Please ensure you register for all three dates

SESSION #1: Climate Change Risks

Climate projections and impacts for the Edmonton region, and the concepts of climate resilience and adaptation will be presented. Leave the session with an understanding of local climate trends, and the potential impacts of climate change on your League, neighbourhood and city.

SESSION #2: Being Prepared for Extreme Weather

Being prepared in advance and having a social network to turn to are useful for preventing situations from becoming emergencies. Leave with an understanding of the likelihood and impacts of extreme weather so you can be better prepared for events such as flooding. Topics covered in Session #1 will be important background for this session.

SESSION #3: Adapting Yourself and Your League

Learn about City and Regional efforts to adapt to climate change as well as the toll that climate change can take on our mental health. The session culminates in an opportunity to discuss climate resilience and adaptation actions relevant for your League, based on the information presented in this and the previous two sessions.
