Event Details

In this age of alluring techno-gadgetry we need to be very cautious aboutmaintaining a balance between indoor and outdoor activity. At a time whenchildren's natural curiosity about the outdoors is eclipsed by the demands ofbusy schedules and the ever-present glow of video screens, schools andoutdoor centers may be the only places where kids are encouraged tointeract with nature. Kids need to go outside for both learning and play—indeed there is a need for old-fashioned unstructured play in nature – the kind of invented play that “older” folks fondly recall.

Age appropriateness: K-12

Green Teacher is a non-profit organization which publishes resources to help educators, both inside and outside of schools, to promote global and environmental awareness among young people from elementary through high school. We publish Green Teacher, a quarterly magazine full of teaching ideas from successful “green” educators. Each issue of Green Teacher offers perspectives on the role of education in creating a sustainable future, practical cross-curricular activities for various grade levels, and reviews of the latest teaching resources. Other Green Teacher publications to date include five resource books for educators: Greening School Grounds: Creating Habitats for Learning, Teaching About Climate Change: Cool Schools Tackle Global Warming (also published in French), Teaching Green: The Middle Years, Teaching Green: The Elementary Years, and Teaching Green: The High School Years.

By signing up for this webinar, you will be added to our mailing list and may receive emails from Green Teacher about free articles, new issues of our magazine, books, promotions, events, and other environmental education news.
