Description

GroundSwell's 2019-20 Concert Season--Five Great Concerts


GS 1: September 14, 2019: Nail Quartet--Lori Freedman (clarinets), Nicolas Caloia (bass), Ab Baars (winds), Ig Henneman (viola). An exciting program of composed and improvised music from around the world. Curated by Jim Hiscott, venue tba.


GS 2: October 6, 2019: Park Sounds--Ben Reimer (percussion) and Jennifer Thiesen (viola). A concert at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights focused on the theme of origins, home, belonging and culture. Includes four commissions. Curated by Karen Sunabacka.


GS 3: November 14, 2019: The Naked Voice--Helen Pridmore (voice) brings a program of solo vocal works by Canadian composers, combining live electronics, video, tape, extended vocal techniques, and theatrical elements. Curated by Diana McIntosh at Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall (U of W).


GS 4: December 6, 2019: Nick Photinos, solo cello and electronics. An adventurous multimedia show that will stretch your ears! Curated by Gordon Fitzell, venue tba.


GS 5: February 15, 2020: Ironwood String Quartet: Jessica Linnebach & Carissa Klopoushak (violins), David Marks (viola), and Julia MacLaine (cello). This "take no prisoners" quartet will present a program including works by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Ana Sokolovic and Caroline Shaw. Curated by Michael Matthews, venue tba.
