The Intergovernmental Committee for Economic and Labour Force Development in Toronto (ICE) in partnership with Northeastern University - Toronto Campus is delighted to invite you to a panel discussion on international students in Toronto. The panel will feature the following speakers:

  • Sarah Wayland, PhD, co-author of the research report, Growing Impact: Post-Secondary International Students in Toronto; and
  • Shruti Paul, International Student, MBA Candidate, University of Toronto – Rotman School of Management;
  • Kimberly Bates, PhD, Director, MBA Programs; Associate Professor, Entrepreneurship and Strategy, Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University; and President, Administrative Sciences Association of Canada.
  • Virginia Macchiavello, Associate Vice President, Business Development, International Education Centennial College.

Sarah Wayland will present the findings from the study, Growing Impact: Post-Secondary International Students in Toronto, commissioned by ICE. The study identifies trends in the internationalization of education in Canada and Toronto and the positive impacts such trends are having on our economy and educational system, as well as actions that can be taken to support international student success. Shruti Paul will share her experience as an international student in Toronto, and Kimberly Bates will provide insights from the university sector. Virginia Macchiavello will give the college sector perspective.

There is no cost to participate in this event. A continental breakfast will be served at 9:15 a.m. with the discussion to follow. Opportunities for networking following the discussion will allow participants to compare experiences, identify common challenges, and discuss best practices.
